    CBS's 60 Minutes to Report on Crumbling Bridges and Other Neglected Infrastructure

    Bridges, roads, rails and runways are crumbling under our feet. Seven years ago, 13 people died in the dramatic collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis. Steve Kroft traveled to Pittsburgh to meet with engineers and the former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.     Making a Federal Case: Lawsuit Challenging Authority of Licensing Boards

    The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying filed a "friend of the court" brief in the case, which began with a complaint filed against the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners by the Federal Trade Commission for sending cease-and-desist letters to nonlicensed teeth whitening providers. The board claims to be acting as a state regulatory body, ensuring patient safety; the FTC claims the board, comprised mostly of dental professionals competing against nonlicensed teeth whitening providers, is exceeding its authority and violating antitrust law.  Case briefs can be accessed here.
