Substation Services Engineer

Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Substation Services Engineer. Northeast Power is a transmission cooperative serving northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa. Candidate to modify/upgrade existing substation facilities, metering, relaying, SCADA and associated equipment. In addition, assist with researching, planning, developing and implementing programs to meet North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or a related engineering field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred or ability to obtain with registration in Missouri and Iowa
  • Minimum three-year’s experience in electric utility industry preferred
  • Knowledge in 69 kV and 161 kV substation equipment including large power transformers, tap changers/regulators, and SF6 and oil circuit breakers, a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical substation layouts, major equipment and auxiliary systems
  • Knowledge of protective relaying, metering, short circuit calculations, SCADA systems Doble Power Factor Testing and fusing/recloser coordination
  • Working knowledge of system protection coordination principles and electric utility engineering practices, operations and construction
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with AcSELerator and ASPEN, a plus
  • Must be able to attend work on a regular and predictable basis and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work independently and assume responsibility
  • English is the spoken language

This is an entry level engineering position however, electric utility engineers with experience will be considered.
